What is the Nextcloud Server — and when is it worth it?
With Nextcloud Hosting you get a plan on our shared platform — affordable, fast, more than enough for most people. With the Nextcloud Server you get your own private Nextcloud instead: a complete instance just for you, with its own user management, full admin rights and the freedom to install any Nextcloud app — including the ones the shared setup doesn't allow.
The pricing model is deliberately simple: you pick the storage, nothing else. The base formula: server plan = Nextcloud Hosting plan of the same size plus €15 for your private server; from 15 TB it's €8 per terabyte plus the same €15. Add a few in-between sizes so you never have to book more than you need. User accounts are unlimited in every plan: a club with 200 members pays the same as a family with four accounts, as long as the storage fits.
And performance? That's our job. Your server runs as a virtual machine on our infrastructure, and we assign CPU and RAM as needed. During load peaks — Monday-morning sync, big team uploads, many concurrent office editors — we scale along, and large setups get the power they need too. You don't have to guess a performance tier or size anything; that's on us.
Despite the “own server”, you don't have to administer anything yourself: we install your Nextcloud, apply updates, run the backups and monitor operations. You get full admin rights to your Nextcloud on top — using them is optional. The feature set is identical to Nextcloud Hosting — just entirely private.

All prices include 19% German VAT, cancel monthly, no setup fee. Odd amounts are rounded up in the display — at checkout you pay the exact, sometimes slightly lower price. 10% discount on yearly prepayment. Need more than 100 TB? What's the difference to Nextcloud Hosting?
With Nextcloud Hosting you get a plan on our shared platform — affordable and more than enough for most. With the Nextcloud Server you get your own private instance: your own user management, full admin rights, your own apps. The feature set of Nextcloud itself is identical in both cases — with the server, the whole instance is simply yours.
How is the price calculated?
The base formula: up to 10 TB, a server plan equals the Nextcloud Hosting plan of the same storage size plus €15 for your private server — 250 GB as a private server costs €18, for example. From 15 TB the storage tier applies: €8 per terabyte plus the same €15. In between sit a few intermediate sizes so the tier has no gaps. No user licenses, no hidden items.
Really unlimited users?
Yes. Nextcloud licenses per storage, not per user — and we pass that on unchanged. Create as many accounts as you like; only the booked storage is billed. A club with 200 members pays the same as a family with four accounts.
How much computing power does my server get?
As much as it needs. Your server runs as a virtual machine on our infrastructure, and we assign CPU and RAM as needed — during load peaks we scale along, and large setups with many concurrent users get the power they need. That's why you won't find performance tiers here: you pick the storage, sizing is our job. If your setup keeps growing heavily over time, we'll come to you about the right fit.
What happens when my storage is full?
You simply upgrade to the next larger plan — no data migration, no new setup. The tier goes up to 100 TB; if you need even more, open a ticket.
Who takes care of updates and backups?
We do. Nextcloud updates, security patches, backups and monitoring run automatically on our side. Seven daily backups, mirrored across sites. You don't have to do anything, unless you want to.
What is the Nextcloud Talk HPB — and do I need it?
Without a High Performance Backend, Talk video calls run peer-to-peer — that works well up to about four participants, after which clients and connections buckle. With the Talk HPB, the streams run through our dedicated backend: stable with up to 50 concurrent Talk users. As an add-on to the Nextcloud Server it costs €10/month, we set everything up. If your calls are just two or three people, you don't need it.
Can I digitally sign documents with my Nextcloud?
Yes — with LibreSign: sign PDFs right in Nextcloud and send signature requests to others, including recipients without a Nextcloud account. The app needs its own services and a certificate setup on the server; on your Nextcloud Server we set that up free of charge — just open a ticket. Plain words on the legal side: LibreSign creates simple and advanced electronic signatures — enough for the vast majority of everyday business contracts. It is not a qualified electronic signature (QES) under eIDAS, which some documents with a statutory written-form requirement demand — those only come from qualified trust service providers.
Do I get admin access?
Yes, full admin rights to your Nextcloud: manage users and groups, install apps, set sharing rules, adjust the design. The system underneath — operating system, database, web server — is our job, so maintenance and updates run cleanly.
Which office suite is included, and can I add add-ons?
Euro-Office comes pre-installed — the new sovereign office suite from Europe, ready to use for Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents in the browser. Prefer OnlyOffice or Collabora? That works too. For larger conferences there's BigBlueButton as an add-on, for very many concurrent editors a dedicated Euro-Office server — or OnlyOffice if you want a commercial license with vendor support. Talk to us, we'll build the setup that fits.
Can I switch from Nextcloud Hosting to the server?
Yes. Open a ticket and we'll plan the move with you — your data, calendars and contacts move along.
What's the minimum contract term?
One month, cancel monthly. Yearly prepayment gets you a 10% discount.
What about uptime and maintenance windows?
99.9% availability as a yearly average. We announce planned maintenance at least 48 hours ahead, usually at night. Security updates are applied continuously, mostly without downtime.
