Cloud · Your own backup server
Your own PBS on dedicated hardware — one machine just for you, 2 to 20 TB, data transfer included, fully managed. From €49/month.
A shared datastore isn't enough — you want the whole machine. Here you get your own server running nothing but your Proxmox Backup Server: the full admin interface, your own datastores, your own users, your own sync jobs. Budget class, with straight talk: one hard disk, no RAID — but your own hardware from €49 a month. Hardware, updates and monitoring are on us.
What is this?
Proxmox Backup Server (PBS) comes in two branches with us. With classic PBS hosting you rent a datastore on one of our large backup servers — you get credentials for exactly that datastore, and we manage the rest. With the dedicated PBS, the whole machine is yours: a server of your own with its own hard disk, running nothing but your Proxmox Backup Server.
That changes what you can do: you get the complete PBS web interface with admin rights. You create datastores and namespaces following your own scheme, you issue users and API tokens yourself — per customer, per project, per cluster. You decide the verify, prune and garbage collection schedules. And your PBS can replicate with other PBS instances via sync jobs, push and pull.
It stays managed all the same: we provide the hardware, apply OS and PBS updates and monitor machine and disk. And because this is the budget class, we tell you up front what's missing: one hard disk, no RAID, no second site. That's exactly right for the second copy of your backups — not for the only one.
Plans
You pick the hard disk, we build the server — within 24–48 hours. Fixed monthly price, data transfer included, fully managed.

Service-provider class: many tenants, long retention.

The biggest machine: a year of retention for entire customer fleets.

All prices include 19% German VAT, cancel monthly, no setup fee, data transfer included. Provisioning within 24–48 hours — every machine is built for your order. Need more than 20 TB? Available on request — open a ticket and we'll quote a fixed monthly price up front.
Datastore or your own server?
Both branches share the same foundation: a backup target in Germany, client-side encryption, ticket support from people who run PBS themselves every day. The difference is how much machine you get — and how much you want to shape yourself.
| PBS hosting (datastore) | Dedicated PBS | |
|---|---|---|
| What you rent | A datastore on our backup server | A complete machine exclusively for you |
| PBS interface | Access to your datastore | Full admin interface |
| Datastores & namespaces | One included, more on request — managed by us | As many as you like, managed by you |
| Own users & API tokens | — | Yes — tenant separation out of the box |
| Your own sync jobs (push/pull) | — (usable as a sync target) | Yes — you set them up, the target is booked separately |
| Storage redundancy | RAID 10 | One 3.5" hard disk, no RAID — sync as a second target possible |
| Hardware | Large backup server, shared | Your own machine: at least 6 cores at 3.2 GHz, 32 GB RAM |
| Sizes | 1–25 TB in 1 TB steps | 2, 4, 10, 16 or 20 TB — more on request |
| Provisioning | Typically within 24 hours | Within 24–48 hours — built for you |
| Price | from €9/month | from €49/month |
Right when you want a safe target — and nothing else.
Right when you want the machine.
All you need is an encrypted, redundant backup target? Then the datastore plan is the better choice. The two also combine well: dedicated PBS as the first target, a sync job to a RAID 10 datastore as the second.
Features
Four things you should know before ordering.
One physical machine per customer — at least 6 cores, 32 GB RAM, a hard disk just for you. No third-party backup jobs running in parallel, no shared I/O. And when an auditor asks, your documentation is simple: the backups live on hardware used by nobody else.
Looking after several customers or projects? Create a datastore or namespace per tenant, issue separate users and API tokens, set separate retention. In the shared plan we set up additional datastores for you on request — here you create them yourself, anytime, with your own users and API tokens.
One 3.5" hard disk, no RAID, no second site — in return, a machine nobody else uses. Backups are written sequentially, which a hard disk handles well. Verify runs and garbage collection are random I/O and take longer on a hard disk: schedule them at night and you will not notice. Restores run at hard-disk speed.
Your PBS can replicate on its own: a sync job pushes the backups to a datastore in our classic PBS hosting (RAID 10) or to a PBS at your place as well. One hard disk is not RAID — with sync you turn it into a clean two-target strategy, at datastore prices.
What sets us apart
Dedicated means physical here: your PBS doesn't run as a VM next to someone else's workloads but on its own machine with its own hard disk. What you see is yours — data transfer included.
Many managed offers hand you a datastore and nothing else. Here you get the complete PBS interface with admin rights — and we still maintain the OS, the PBS version and the monitoring in the background. You set backup policy, we run operations.
One hard disk per machine, no RAID, no second site — we tell you before you order, not in the fine print. If you want the second copy, attach a datastore in our classic PBS hosting as a sync target. Two targets beat any single drive.
Sync topologies, namespace permissions, garbage collection tuning: your ticket is answered by one of the same three people who run PBS themselves every day — with a concrete fix, not a canned reply.
PBS is open source and the machine is standard hardware. If you ever want to self-host, you sync your datastores to your own hardware and cancel monthly. We help with the move — even away from us.
Setup
We build your machine within 24–48 hours — after that you're minutes away from your first backup job.
Pick a size, order. We assemble your machine for this very order, install PBS and set up monitoring — within 24–48 hours. Afterwards you will find the link to your PBS interface, the user and the initial password in the customer center and in the activation email.
In your PBS interface you create datastores, namespaces and users following your own scheme — the disk is mounted, the first datastore takes two minutes.
In your Proxmox VE: Datacenter → Storage → Add → Proxmox Backup Server. Enter address, datastore, user and fingerprint — like with any PBS.
Enable encryption when creating the storage (store the key somewhere safe!), create a backup job with schedule and retention, start the first run. Details as always in the knowledge base.
Stuck? Open a ticket — we'll help with the setup directly, at no extra charge.
