Mac Mini Hosting

A dedicated Mac mini in a German data center. For CI/CD, Xcode builds, macOS workloads.

You need a Mac that runs somewhere — for remote work or as a CI/CD worker for Xcode builds. We have Mac minis in our racks: our own hardware, dedicated IPv4, with a genuine macOS license. You get SSH, Screen Sharing and AnyDesk — we take care of hardware, power and network.

  • Real Apple hardware with a genuine macOS license · no Hackintosh
  • A dedicated Mac, no virtualization
  • M1 from €29/month · M4 from €79/month

What is this?

What is Mac Mini Hosting — and who needs it?

With Mac Mini Hosting, a real Mac mini sits in our rack, has its own IPv4 address, and you use it remotely. We hand the Mac over with AnyDesk preinstalled — you enter the ID and work on macOS as if the Mac were sitting on your desk. You can switch to SSH, Apple Screen Sharing or any other remote tool at any time.

The most common reason: building iOS and macOS apps in a CI/CD pipeline. Apple requires Xcode, Xcode only runs on macOS, and a build farm needs real Mac hardware. Instead of running Mac minis on your own desk, you rent them from us — with server-grade connectivity, backup power and electricity from renewable sources.

Other use cases: a headless macOS server for automation, a Time Machine target, a remote Mac for Windows-based freelancers, or simply: a Mac that no longer fits in the living room. We run Apple hardware with a genuine Apple license — no Hackintosh, no virtualized macOS tinkering.

Features

What your Mac can do.

Real Apple hardware

M1 or M4, your own Mac mini in the rack. No Hackintosh, no virtualization, no license workaround. You can register an Apple ID, the App Store works, app notarization runs.

SSH access

The SSH daemon runs on macOS; you log in with a public key or password. Headless workflows like Xcode builds via xcodebuild, script automation — all possible.

Screen Sharing (VNC)

Apple Screen Sharing is Apple's own VNC. On a Mac, simply Connect to Server → vnc://IP — you see the desktop, you can click, type, everything. Good for the occasional manual intervention.

Dedicated IPv4

Every Mac gets a public, static IPv4 address. No NAT, no port-forwarding gymnastics. SSH and Screen Sharing are directly reachable — protected by a firewall, of course.

macOS updates on your schedule

You decide when to update to a new macOS major version (e.g. macOS 16). We usually recommend waiting until tools like Xcode are compatible. Major updates require a VNC session — Apple insists on user input.

1 Gbit connectivity

Symmetrical, no traffic cap. Matters for build pipelines that pull GitHub repositories, fetch packages from npm/CocoaPods/Swift Package Manager, or push finished builds to App Store Connect or TestFlight.

Also included in every plan

  • Dedicated Mac mini, no virtualization
  • 1 Gbit shared uplink
  • 5 TB traffic included · each additional TB for €1.50
  • Dedicated IPv4 address
  • SSH and Screen Sharing available remotely
  • macOS at the current major version
  • M1: 3-month minimum term · M4: 12-month minimum term
  • Monthly billing in every plan
  • €0 setup fee
  • Servers in Germany · 100% renewable energy

Add-ons

Add USB SSDs and backup targets.

Mac hardware without a backup is risky — if the device fails, the internal SSD is hard to recover. We attach USB-C SSDs as a Time Machine target directly to your Mac, plus optional Synology backup in a second data center. Monitoring on request on top.

USB-C SSD 1 TB

€9
monthly

An external SSD attached directly to the Mac mini via USB-C. The classic Time Machine target, or storage for build caches and large repositories. We buy the SSD, plug it into the Mac, and replace it if it fails.

USB-C SSD 2 TB

€14
monthly

Twice the storage for a longer Time Machine history (typically 6–9 months of version depth) or larger data sets.

USB-C SSD 4 TB

€24
monthly

High-capacity USB storage for extensive CI caches, asset collections or a long Time Machine history (12+ months).

USB-C SSD 8 TB

€39
monthly

Maximum local SSD capacity. For agencies with lots of large iOS build artifacts or video workflows.

Time Machine backup on Synology

from €7/month
monthly

Time Machine additionally backs up to a separate Synology in our rack — encrypted, deduplicated, mirrored to a second data center. Keeps you covered even if the Mac and the USB SSD fail at the same time. 500 GB from €7, 1 TB from €12, 2 TB from €19/month.

Extended monitoring

€5
monthly

CPU, RAM, disk and network metrics. Alerts on outage or high load.

Need different sizes or configurations? Open a ticket — we'll build the backup setup that fits.

Who uses this

Six profiles where Mac mini Hosting makes sense.

📱

Indie iOS developer

M1 or M4 Solo

You have an app in the App Store, ship new versions regularly, and want your TestFlight builds coming out of a CI pipeline. The M1 at €29 covers most indie apps. If build times start to annoy you: M4.

🏢

App agency with multiple clients

M4 Studio or Pro

You maintain 5–20 iOS apps, each with its own CI pipeline. One Mac per client, or one beefy M4 Pro with virtual build workspaces. We help with the setup strategy.

🎬

macOS software developer

M4 Solo or Studio

You build apps for macOS — plugins, audio tools, Mac-specific applications. Real Mac hardware is mandatory. M4 Studio with 32 GB for Xcode plus sandbox testing.

🛠️

DevOps / IT service provider

M4 Studio

You run CI/CD for several clients with an iOS component. A Mac mini with us as a build agent, connected to GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Buildkite or Bitrise. Headless, automated, reliable.

💻

Windows freelancers with occasional Mac needs

M1

You work mainly on Windows but occasionally need macOS — for testing, Apple-specific tools, a client with a Mac setup. Instead of buying a Mac: €29/month with us.

🔧

Hobby and tinkering workloads

M1

You want a Mac that does something in the background — Time Machine backups, a few scripts, maybe Plex on macOS. The M1 is enough, it's cheap, and there's no noisy box in your home.

What sets us apart

Mac mini Hosting is rare. Ours works differently.

Vorteil 01

Real hardware with a real license.

We run Mac minis as hardware Apple built, with a macOS license Apple sells. No Hackintosh, no virtualization workarounds. App Store, notarization, Apple ID — everything works.

Vorteil 02

M1 clearance.

Apple discontinued the M1 mini. We have units in the rack, paid off, ready to run. A real Apple machine for €29/month — hard to beat, as long as we have units left.

Vorteil 03

Personal setup support.

If you've never set up a headless Mac for CI/CD: write to us. We help with the Xcode cache, GitHub Actions runners, build scripts. Free, because we enjoy this stuff ourselves.

Vorteil 04

Dedicated IPv4 and 1 Gbit.

Other Mac hosting providers hand you NAT IPs behind a reverse proxy. With us, every Mac has its own public IPv4 with full 1 Gbit symmetry. Pulling from GitHub, pushing to TestFlight — both fast.

Vorteil 05

Three German locations.

The Macs live in Düsseldorf. If needed, we can set up backup mirroring to a Synology in Nuremberg or Falkenstein — build artifacts or Time Machine backups land in a second data center automatically.

Vorteil 06

Clear terms, no renewal trap.

We procure Apple hardware individually for each order — which is why the minimum terms are fixed: 3 months for the M1 (from stock), 12 months for the M4 (procured new). After that, the contract renews for the same period; notice period is 7 days before the period ends, in writing by email or through the customer center. No auto-renewal locking you in for 12 months when you actually want to leave monthly — that doesn't happen here.

Setup

Online in 1–3 business days.

  1. 1

    Order a plan

Pick your Mac mini plan in the customer center. You provide an Apple ID (or create a fresh one if the Mac serves a dedicated purpose), and we set up the Mac accordingly.

  2. 2

    Wait for setup

The Mac is ready within 1–3 business days — we set up every unit individually as soon as the order comes in (Apple setup, account, network, remote access). You get an email with the AnyDesk ID, a random user password and the public IPv4 for SSH/VNC.

  3. 3

    First access via AnyDesk

Install AnyDesk on your machine (the mobile app on iPad/iPhone works too), enter the AnyDesk ID, type the password when the connection prompt appears. You land straight on the Mac desktop.

  4. 4

    Set up alternative access (optional)

If you prefer Apple Screen Sharing, SSH or another remote tool: enable it yourself on the Mac first. Afterwards you can uninstall AnyDesk or keep it running in parallel — your call.

  5. 5

    Order a backup target (recommended)

A USB-C SSD from €9/month as a Time Machine target, or the Synology Time Machine backup from €7/month as an off-Mac backup. If the hardware fails, the Mac's internal SSD is hard to recover — a backup is mandatory.

  6. 6

Set up CI/CD or your workflow

Install Xcode (App Store), register a GitHub Actions runner, or connect your preferred CI/CD. We help with the setup if you've never done it before.

Frequently asked questions

What does 'at least 8 GB / 256 GB' mean for the M1?
We keep a pool of M1 units in different configurations. You're guaranteed at least this configuration. If a 16 GB or 1 TB unit happens to be free, you get that one instead — at no extra charge.
Can I run macOS updates myself?
Yes, you have full access. For major updates we recommend coordinating with us, because they mean a reboot and usually need a VNC session (Apple insists on user input).
What do people actually use this for?
Xcode builds for iOS and macOS apps in a CI/CD pipeline. Headless macOS servers for automation. Freelance developers who want to reach macOS remotely from a Windows laptop. Sometimes simply: a Mac that no longer fits in the living room.
What about Apple licensing?
We run real hardware with a genuine Apple license. No Hackintosh, no virtualization trick. Apple ID, App Store, notarization — everything works just like at home.
Can I connect GitHub Actions or GitLab CI?
Yes. Both support self-hosted runners on macOS. We set up the runner for you if you don't want to do it yourself — open a ticket. Bitrise, CircleCI and Buildkite work much the same way.
What about disk backups?
Two options: a USB-C SSD attached directly to the Mac (from €9/month for 1 TB) as a classic Time Machine target — fast, local. Or a Time Machine backup to a separate Synology in our rack (from €7/month for 500 GB) — encrypted, mirrored to a second data center. Many customers book both in parallel.
How do I access the Mac?
We hand the Mac over with AnyDesk installed — it works right away, no VPN or port configuration on your side. You can switch to anything else: Apple Screen Sharing (VNC), SSH, RustDesk, Jump Desktop, Microsoft Remote Desktop, Splashtop. Tips and setup examples are in our knowledge base.
How many parallel builds can an M1 handle?
Realistically 1–2 medium Xcode builds in parallel. If you need more, we recommend the M4 Solo (4 builds) or M4 Studio (8+ builds, depending on project complexity).
What if the Mac breaks?
We replace the hardware. For the M1 there can be a wait for stock; for the M4 it's typically done within 24 hours. Data on the internal SSD is gone at that point — which is why we recommend the Time Machine backup add-on.
Can I order several Macs?
Yes. A build farm with 5+ Macs is no problem — we set them all up identically and can help with build distribution (e.g. a GitHub Actions matrix).
What if I don't need the Mac anymore after three months?
M1 plan: 3-month minimum term, cancel monthly after that. M4 plans (Solo / Studio / Pro): 12-month minimum term, cancel monthly after that. The minimum term exists because we procure the Apple hardware individually for each order — with very short terms we'd be stuck with the hardware costs. On cancellation, you export your data via SSH or Time Machine. Every plan is billed monthly.
