OnlyOffice is the open-source office suite that replaces Word, Excel and PowerPoint in the browser — full format compatibility, collaborative editing, running as a server in your own rack. We run that server for you. From the Community entry point for small customers to the 200-connection machine for mid-sized teams. The license (for more than 20 concurrent editors) is booked separately.

What is this?
What is the OnlyOffice Document Server — and who is it for?
OnlyOffice Docs is the server component behind the browser office. When you click a Word document in Nextcloud or Confluence and the editor interface opens, an OnlyOffice Document Server is running in the background. It converts documents, syncs the edits of multiple users, writes the result back. With us: dedicated per customer, in our rack in Düsseldorf, at full performance.
Why dedicated — most hosters, including us on standard Nextcloud plans, run one shared OnlyOffice server for all cloud customers together. That's enough for most private and small customers. But once several people regularly work on the same document at the same time, more than 20 concurrent editors are needed, or you want to embed OnlyOffice in your own app — shared gets tight. Then you need your own server.
OnlyOffice is not just for Nextcloud. The official connectors cover Confluence, Jira, Mattermost, HumHub, Strapi, Alfresco, Plone, your own web apps via API. So if you're not a Nextcloud customer with us but want to plug OnlyOffice into your own stack: this is for you too.

The Community plan needs no additional license — the open-source edition with its 20-connection limit is included in the price. Start, Pro and Power require a commercial OnlyOffice license (see next section). Switch between server plans any time, cancel monthly. All server prices include 19% German VAT.
OnlyOffice licenses
Commercial licenses for more than 20 connections — booked yearly.
Server and license are separate on purpose: cancel the server monthly, the license has a 12-month minimum term. All prices include 12 months of OnlyOffice support and every update during the license term.
From 50 concurrent connections on, you need a commercial OnlyOffice license — the Community Edition is limited to 20 connections. The license is booked yearly and includes support and updates for 12 months. Server hosting and license are separate: you can cancel the server monthly, the license has a 12-month minimum term.

JWT authentication out of the box
The Document Server and your application talk via signed JWT tokens — no way for outsiders to pull documents off your server. We enable it by default, you don't have to configure anything.

What OnlyOffice Hosting with us is not.
So it's clear where OnlyOffice Hosting with us ends:
- ! No server access for you. Fully managed means: no SSH, no root. Configuration requests beyond the standard connectors are handled by ticket — billed by time, €25 per 15 minutes during office hours.
- ! Community Edition is limited to 20 concurrent connections. That's OnlyOffice's license limit, not our hardware limit. More connections → a commercial license is required.
- ! No custom domain. Always yourname.office.xaweho-host.de. Since the Document Server disappears behind the platform (Nextcloud, Confluence) for end users, the URL is rarely directly visible.
- ! No off-the-shelf cluster setup. For more than 200 connections or distributed PostgreSQL/Redis/RabbitMQ setups you need a custom configuration — on request, with its own price.
- ! License minimum term is 12 months. The OnlyOffice license is booked yearly and cannot be canceled monthly. The server plan can.

The Document Server itself is ready within up to 24 hours — we check every order manually and set up your subdomain at yourname.office.xaweho-host.de, JWT and TLS properly. With commercial licenses, activation typically takes an extra 2–3 business days: the license is issued by OnlyOffice in Latvia, which is out of our hands. Sometimes it's faster. We'll let you know as soon as the license is active.

Connector to your platform
You tell us where OnlyOffice should plug in — Nextcloud, Confluence, Mattermost, your own app. We configure the matching connector and send you the credentials. If you run your own platform, we help with the API integration.

First login and test
You open a document on your platform — the OnlyOffice editor loads from your subdomain. If everything works, you're done. If not, open a ticket.

License upgrade when needed
You start with the 50 license and realize after 6 months that 100 makes more sense. You swap the license in the customer center, the difference is billed pro rata. Moving to a larger server plan is possible at any time too — we handle the data migration.
Frequently asked questions
Does it have to be OnlyOffice — or is Euro-Office without a license enough?
Depends on what you need. With Euro-Office Hosting you get a Document Server from us built on the same proven engine — fully open source, with no license costs at all. You pick OnlyOffice when you want official vendor support with a commercial license, or your organization requires it. We run both with the same care.
What's the difference between the Community Edition and a commercial license?
Functionally almost identical — same document editors, same formats, same platform connectors. The main difference: the Community Edition is limited to 20 concurrent connections. If you need more editors at the same time, you have to book a commercial license. Commercial licenses also come with official OnlyOffice support and a major-update guarantee.
What exactly counts as a “concurrent connection”?
One concurrent editor = one person who currently has a document open in the OnlyOffice editor (whether they're actively typing or just reading). Logged-in users without an open document don't count. Example: a club with 100 members of which typically 8 edit at the same time — the 50 license is plenty.
Why this pricing model? Others have all-in prices.
OnlyOffice licenses are clear per-connection prices, which we pass on 1:1. The server is dedicated per customer, so it's clearly costed too. We keep the two packages separate because that way you see the real costs — no averaged pseudo-bundle prices. Add server and license together and 50 connections come to roughly €144/month total, including 19% German VAT.
Do I even need a commercial license if I stay under 20 connections?
No. For up to 20 concurrent editors, the Community Edition is enough — it's open source and free of charge. You then only book our Community server plan (€10/month). If you ever grow past 20, you upgrade to a larger plan and buy the commercial license on top.
Can I use OnlyOffice standalone, without Nextcloud from you?
Yes. The Document Server is a standalone product — you can run it with any platform that has an OnlyOffice connector (Nextcloud, ownCloud, Confluence, Mattermost, HumHub, Strapi, Alfresco, Plone, your own app via REST API). No Nextcloud contract with us required.
How fast is the server ready?
The Document Server itself is usually ready within up to 24 hours. If you order a commercial license with it, expect an extra 2–3 business days, because the license is issued by OnlyOffice in Latvia — that's outside our control, though sometimes it's faster. You'll get an email from us as soon as everything is unlocked.
What does “fully managed” mean in practice?
You have no SSH or root access. We take care of: setup, OnlyOffice updates, security patches, reverse-proxy configuration, JWT key management, TLS certificates, hardware maintenance, backup snapshots. You take care of: connecting the connector to your platform (we help with that) and editing documents.
What happens if I cancel just the server while the license is still running?
The license is valid for 12 months — it's not refunded when you cancel the server, but it can be ported to another OnlyOffice server with us or with a third-party provider. You remain the license holder with OnlyOffice; we only brokered the license as a reseller.
What happens after the 12-month license term?
We get in touch a few weeks before expiry and ask whether you want to renew. If you renew, the license runs for another 12 months at the then-current prices. If you don't, you can either keep running your Document Server on the Community Edition (max. 20 connections) or cancel the server plan.
Which operating systems/versions do you ship?
We install OnlyOffice Document Server on a Linux base we've tuned ourselves (AlmaLinux 10 or Ubuntu 24.04 LTS). The OnlyOffice version is always a current stable major release — we document our update policy, and larger updates are announced with a maintenance window.
What if I use a platform that's not on your list?
Ask us. OnlyOffice connectors exist for many platforms, and the REST API allows custom integrations. Worst case, we build the connector together with you — that's custom work at our hands-on rate (€25 per 15 minutes).
