The Nextcloud Server has a new pricing model — and a much simpler one. The old model of performance classes and separate storage packages took explaining. Too much explaining: anyone who has to study a CPU table before ordering a private cloud often ends up not ordering at all. Point taken.
One question instead of a configurator
From now on, the Nextcloud Server asks you exactly one question: How much storage do you need? Five sizes from 250 GB to 10 TB, plus a range for large setups up to 100 TB. That’s it — no performance classes, no storage packages, no configurator.
The pricing formula behind it is out in the open: every server plan equals the Nextcloud Hosting plan of the same size plus €15 for your private server. 250 GB costs €18/month, the 1 TB server €23/month. From 15 TB on, we charge €8 per terabyte plus the same €15.
Unlimited users — we only charge for storage
You already know the principle from our Nextcloud Hosting, and it applies to the server just the same: user accounts cost nothing with us. A club with 200 members pays the same price as a family with four accounts — as long as the storage fits. With Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, the user count is the price lever. With us, it simply doesn’t matter.
And the performance?
That’s on us. Your server runs as a virtual machine on our infrastructure, and we assign CPU and RAM as needed — for the Monday-morning sync just like for the team upload. You no longer have to guess a performance class or size anything. That’s exactly why the classes are gone.
What you get instead are the things a private server is actually worth it for: Memories as your photo hub including video previews, the Recognize photo AI that computes entirely on your server, full-text search inside document contents via the OpenSearch add-on — and the push service for instant sync comes preinstalled. New in the lineup: Nextcloud Talk HPB
Launching alongside it: a new, standalone product. The Nextcloud Talk HPB is the High Performance Backend for Nextcloud Talk — video conferences run through our backend in Germany instead of peer-to-peer and stay stable even in large groups: up to 50 concurrent Talk users, €10/month per server.
Best part: it works with any Nextcloud. You get the backend URL and shared secret, enter both in the Talk settings, done — whether your Nextcloud runs with us, with another provider, or in the basement on your own hardware. On the Nextcloud Server, the HPB is directly bookable as an add-on and we handle the setup.
