Our Mailhosting has been the product for one domain with mailboxes for years — shared Mailcow server, push mail, calendars, done. But the same question kept turning up in tickets: “I have three domains, twenty people and want to set my own rules — can you do that?” As of today: yes. The Mail Server is one Mailcow instance per customer — with its own sending IP, from €29 a month.
What you get
Your own virtual machine running nothing but your Mailcow. Plus your own IPv4 sending address with reverse DNS — no shared pool, nobody else sends through it. Unlimited domains, mailboxes and aliases, the complete Mailcow admin interface, SOGo for webmail, calendars and contacts, a spam filter with quarantine, Sieve filters per user and per domain. We set up SPF, DKIM, DMARC and MTA-STS, apply updates after testing, monitoring runs around the clock, and every night there is a backup kept for 7 days at a second site. Ticket support is included; if you want hands-on work in your instance from us, it is €25 per started 15 minutes — announced beforehand.
Provisioning within 24–48 hours, because we set up every instance individually. Cancel monthly, no setup fee.
Four sizes, billed by storage
| Plan | Mail storage | Price/month |
|---|---|---|
| Mail Server 50 GB | 50 GB | €29 |
| Mail Server 250 GB | 250 GB | €49 |
| Mail Server 1 TB | 1 TB | €79 |
| Mail Server 2 TB | 2 TB | €119 |
It is the principle you know from our other products: you pay for storage, not per head. Ten mailboxes or forty, three domains or eight — none of it changes the price. Per-head providers typically charge around €4 to €10 per mailbox per month; on the 250 GB plan your tenth mailbox costs €4.90, your fiftieth 98 cents. All prices include 19% German VAT, 10% off with yearly payment in the customer center.
We move you in — free up to January 31, 2027
Moving a mail server is the reason companies stay with their old provider even though they do not want to. That is why we do it at a fixed price: Migration S up to 10 mailboxes, M up to 25, L up to 50 — domains and mailboxes created from your list, mailboxes taken over via IMAP sync, DNS plan checked, switch date agreed, final sync after the MX change. For the launch: all migration packages are free of charge in all plans up to and including January 31, 2027. After that from €149.
Plain talk: what does not work
We tell you before you order, not in a ticket afterwards:
- No Exchange mode for desktop Outlook. Mailcow speaks IMAP, SMTP, CalDAV and CardDAV — no MAPI. Outlook on Windows works via IMAP plus a calendar plugin; webmail, iPhone, Android, Thunderbird and Apple Mail work completely. If you need Outlook with full Exchange comfort, we are the wrong choice.
- No newsletter bulk mailing. Ten thousand recipients a day ruin the reputation of your own IP.
- No compliance mail archiving. A backup is not an archive.
- No sending IP with a reputation from day one. Your IP is new, large receivers watch new senders first. The first weeks need patience and normal volumes — how that works is in the article Building mail reputation.
Mailhosting or Mail Server?
Everything under one domain — even with many mailboxes? Then Mailhosting remains the cheaper choice. Several domains, your own sending IP, your own spam and filter rules or the complete Mailcow administration? Then the Mail Server. If you are facing the end of support for Exchange 2016/2019, the knowledge base has the options comparison and the migration guide.
