At one of our three sites — Düsseldorf — we currently have rack space free. The background: we consolidated a lot of aging servers onto new, considerably more efficient hardware and saved a good deal of floor space and power in the process. Starting today we’re offering that freed-up space as colocation — and thanks to the efficiency gains, we can keep the prices genuinely attractive.
Nuremberg is in planning and follows later this year. Consolidation is underway there as well; once the capacity is ready, we’ll add the site — probably structured similarly, and thanks to cheaper energy terms even a bit more attractive on price. Until then: Düsseldorf.
What you get
Space in a 19-inch rack with cold-aisle containment, a 1 Gbit port, 5 TB of included traffic per month, a dedicated IPv4 address and a /64 IPv6 subnet. Power consumption is metered transparently and billed accordingly. Plans range from 1 U starting at €22.99/month to the full rack at €653.99/month (prices include 19% German VAT).
The power part
We meter the consumption of every outlet around the clock and calculate the monthly average in watts. On that basis you reimburse us your share of the energy costs — €0.39/W in Düsseldorf. A typical 200 W server thus costs you €78/month; a frugal 1U server drawing 75 W comes to €29.25/month.
This is not a flat-rate trap (where you keep paying while the machine idles) and not electricity trading (which we’re not licensed for anyway). Historical consumption data is available six months back, minute by minute, with daily curves — so efficiency measures actually pay off for you.
Services as needed
Hands-on work during business hours is €25 per 15 minutes; outside business hours (with the 24/7 on-call option booked) it’s €37.50 per 15 minutes. Onboarding service for a one-time €99 — we unpack, rack, cable, power up and let you know as soon as your system is online. IPMI VPN access for €5/month, so you can reach your out-of-band management remotely.
Access and hardware format
By default you enter the data center accompanied by a xaweho staff member — we carry the responsibility for DC access. With the full rack, your own 24/7 access is possible on request.
For all plans up to the half rack, your hardware has to fit the 19-inch format (because of the shared cold-aisle architecture). With the full rack, the cabinet is exclusively yours and you can install whatever you want — tower servers on rails, odd sizes, external storage boxes.
